On the 5th, Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun announced the 10 tasks of the three major strategies, including spatial innovation, industrial connection, and citizen giving, along with the vision for ‘Nogyang Leisure Sports Park’ at City Hall on the 5th.
Nokyang Leisure Sports Park is 330,000㎡ in size and has a sports complex, auxiliary stadium, gymnasium, bicycle stadium, baseball field, tennis court, badminton court, ice rink, and curling rink.
It is adjacent to Nokyang Station on Subway Line 1 and is located on major growth axes such as Camp Red Cloud, a returned U.S. military base that is a candidate site for a free economic zone, and Woojung District, which has 4,000 households.

However, it has been operated mainly for elite sports, and there have been restrictions on citizen use due to disconnection between facilities and a vehicle-oriented structure.
Accordingly, Uijeongbu City is using a spatial innovation strategy to reorganize it into a single city park rather than a sports complex with individual facilities scattered, transforming it into a space that citizens can naturally use.
Starting in 2023, a space utilization plan is being drawn up, and night openings, fence removal, access road improvement, and winter vinyl track installation are being implemented in stages.
In particular, we plan to establish a sports convergence science high school as one of our industry connection strategies. It is a specialized high school that studies all aspects of the sports industry.
We considered establishing departments such as sports management and marketing, sports data and image analysis, rehabilitation and medical health, sports facility management and administration, and overseas sports projects.
Mayor Kim explained that Nokyang Leisure Sports Park is equipped with various sports facilities, minimizing the burden on separate facilities in addition to lecture and dormitory buildings.
Uijeongbu City also plans to sign a related business agreement with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education in the first half of this year.

In addition, we plan to expand into a cultural hub in northern Gyeonggi Province by using the existing facility as a sports arena-type space to accommodate large-scale performances and complex events.
In addition, in order to develop this into a public platform for local sports where citizens can enjoy and participate together, we plan to promote the creation of a K4 League citizen soccer team starting in 2028.
Among the cities adjacent to Uijeongbu, Paju City operates citizen soccer teams in the K2 League, Pocheon City in the K3 League, and Namyangju City in the K4 League.
Mayor Kim said, “Nokyang Leisure Sports Park is a project that will transform the entire sports complex into a living platform that contains citizens’ daily lives and the future of the city. We will make it Uijeongbu’s ‘Olympic Park’ loved by citizens.”
