Slovakia vs Germany: Hockey Win & Olympic Medal Pursuit

In the quarter-finals, the Slovaks beat the German national team 6:2 (1:0, 3:1, 2:1).

In the 19th minute of the match, Pavol Regenda put the Slovakian team in the lead, but in the fifth to 11th minute of the second period, Miloš Kelemen, Oliver Okunjar and Dalibor Dvorski achieved the devastating 4-0. In the 15th minute of the second period, the German national team got one goal back, with an accurate shot by Lukas Reichel.

Regenda scored his second goal of the match in the first minute of the third period to make it 5-1, which the Germans answered with a goal from Frederik Tiefel in the tenth minute. The last goal in the 57th minute of the game was scored by Slovak Tomas Tatars, who sent the puck into the empty goal of the German national team.

The Slovakian national team reached the semi-finals of the Olympic Games for the third time in its history. Previously, they succeeded in 2010 in Vancouver, where they had to settle for fourth place, and four years ago in Beijing, where Slovaks won their only Olympic medals – bronze.

The Slovaks started the group tournament with a 4:1 victory over Finland, then beat Italy 3:2 and lost to Sweden 3:5, which gave them first place in Group B and an automatic place in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, the German national team beat Denmark 3:1 in Group C, but later lost 3:4 to Latvian hockey players and lost to the USA 1:5. The Germans finished second in the group and defeated France 5-1 in the first round of the elimination tournament.

Canada and the Czech Republic, Finland and Switzerland and the USA and Sweden will also fight for a place in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

It has already been reported that the Latvian team finished the tournament in tenth position after losing 1:5 to the Swedes in the first round of the playoffs.

After a 12-year break, players from the National Hockey League (NHL) are also participating in the Olympic Games tournament.

Finnish ice hockey players triumphed in the previous Olympic Games.
