The SG Hemsbach Badminton first team had a good start to the second half of the season. The second team had to improvise in some positions. Despite good efforts, especially from the younger players, a defeat could not be avoided.
In the Lower Neckar district league, SG Hemsbach I started with a clear 21:12, 21:16 win against second-placed SG Walldorf II. Hartmann/Reinemuth had a very good coordination in the first men’s doubles (HD). The women’s doubles had to pass just fine. The second Hemsbacher HD Fischer/Haas didn’t let anything go wrong either and got the second point after powerful attacking badminton. Timo Hartmann showed in the top singles that his steep power smashes can hardly be returned. He continued his winning streak with 21:14, 21:16. The women’s singles went to Alena Stieler. After the defeats in the mixed doubles and the second men’s singles (HE), team leader Stefan Haas fought his way back into the game after losing the first set in the 3rd HE, adjusted better and better to the opponent’s style of play in the second set and forced a deciding set. Here he fought hard to get the winning point. The success against the second-placed team means we are tied for last place with two other teams. It gives SG Hemsbach I the opportunity to move forward a little on the next matchday against table neighbors BSG Mannheim II.
In the Mannheim/Heidelberg district league, SG Hemsbach II had a difficult time with league leaders TSG Dossenheim III. Without a fourth men and with a young team, the success of the first HD Engelhardt/Dugimont was very pleasing. They played well-coordinated and powerfully. After remarkable rallies, the 21:19, 21:13 success meant a 1-0 lead. But then the Heidelbergers were in control. Women’s doubles, 2nd HD, women’s singles, 3rd HE and mixed doubles went to the hosts and led to a hopeless Hemsbacher 1:5 behind. Nils Engelhardt fought for every ball in the first half. He took the connecting point with 21:16, 18:21, 21:15. After three sets, team leader Fenelon Dugimont also had to give up the point to the Dossenheimers in the 2nd game. The 2:6 against the league leaders motivates us to score points on the home game day against BSG Mannheim III.
