Rugby Player’s Viral Race: Ronaldinho-Style Juggling & Size 47 Feet

For the specialized site Rugbyrama, the National has “found its Ronaldinho”. It is not only on the pitches of the Top 14 that we can see high-class gestures in rugby. This weekend, the approximately 2,500 spectators present at the Stadium Lille Métropole for a National match, the third French level, between Olympique Marcquois and Bourg-en-Bresse witnessed a rare gesture. A crossing of the field towards a test which will go down in history.

In the 26th minute of the match, following a clearance from Bressans, Marcquois winger Mathias Ortiz recovered after a quick touch in his part of the field. He then faces adversaries who form a wall in front of him.

To avoid them he tries a little overhand… half successful but he manages to recover the ball and gives a light kick again, in full run, and lobs an opponent.

On his unstoppable momentum, he accelerates, confuses two defenders with a fake pass and goes to score a try that he will remember for a long time.

“On the action, I see the second curtain uncovered,” says the Basque winger in the columns of La Voix des Sports. I completely missed my first kick, I must admit… And in the end, I saw that I could catch it with the tip of my foot, it lobbed the defender, I was successful. I see that Caza (Geoffrey Cazanave) makes an external call. The defender leaves, so I take the hole and I continue by aiming for the corner post. Fortunately I’m a size 47… It’s still a great success. And luckily Caza called me otherwise the guy would have stayed on me. »

Thanks to this test his team won (20-16) and continues its rescue operation in the championship (13th out of 14).
