In 2020, Rebecca surprised many by marrying Qatari athlete Moaz Mohamed Ibrahim. She left Latvia, accepted Islam and retired from professional sports to focus on her family. At the time, the talented weightlifter posted an emotional message thanking Allah for his amazing plan: “I am so grateful for where Allah has taken me. How amazing he is, how great his plan is! We saw each other, met, felt, stayed. My amazing and wonderful husband, I truly love you! Thank you for being with me on this life’s adventure! Our lives will be long and full of adventures.” I am proud to announce that I am Mrs. Ibrahim. I have always wanted to feel loved, to be with a person who cares for me and supports me in everything. Now I have a person who gives it to me and I can give it back.”
