Pingtung Tennis Center: Groundbreaking & 2027 Completion Date

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Pingtung County Tennis Center project was attended by County Governor Zhou Chunmi, Sports Minister Li Yang, and representatives from the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Sports Federation of the Republic of China, the Soft Tennis Association of the Republic of China, and Pingtung County Tennis Key Development Schools, who jointly witnessed this important milestone in Pingtung tennis.

Zhou Chunmi said that Taiwan Tennis and Soft Tennis were key development projects in Ping County. He was grateful to the then Sports Administration and the current Sports Ministry for injecting funds. At the same time, taking into account the extreme climate, sun-shaded auditoriums were set up. In the future, the park is planned to be included in the Pingtung County Baseball Spring Training Base. In the future, there will also be the E-Da Special Administrative Region with medical and department stores nearby, which will serve as an important development base for sports tourism.

Zhou Chunmi said that in order to prepare for the 2027 National Games in Pingtung, in addition to the Pingtung County Tennis Center, event venues are being built and repaired one after another to allow players to have better and safer training space and competition quality. They will also be open to community residents for leisure use on weekdays to create a sports base shared by all.

The Pingtung County Sports Development Center pointed out that the “Pingtung County Tennis Center New Project” has an investment of approximately 236 million yuan, with a subsidy of 100 million yuan from the Ministry of Sports. The total area is approximately 19,910 square meters. There will be 8 clay courts that meet international competition standards, 2 of which are main courts with surrounding sun-shaded auditoriums, as well as a practice area and an ancillary building.

It will be used as a tennis competition venue for the 2027 National Games, and will strive to host national graded tennis competitions, national youth tennis competitions and other events. It will also serve as a competitive training location for tennis players in Pingtung County. It will also be open to the general public. It will be a multi-functional venue that combines competitions, training, teaching and national sports.
