The new flooring of the middle school gym in Viale Antonio Gramsci was inaugurated in the presence of the mayor of Piancastagnaio Franco Capocchi, the sports councilor Claudia Vagnoli, the principal of the Anna Frank comprehensive school Patrizia Felicioni and the physical education teacher Roberto Capitani.
A particularly important moment, with the presence of students who practically experience this environment throughout the year, attending the various sporting activities which in Piancastagnaio represent true excellence, divided into various disciplines ranging from football to judo, tennis, basketball and volleyball. The renovation and redevelopment works of the gym were financed with a contribution of fifty-three thousand euros financed by the municipal administration and the Cosvig Consortium, now allowing us to benefit from a modernized and functional structure.
It was an intervention that renovated the structure, as mentioned used by students and sports associations, including the flooring and the internal spaces of the building. The gym, in addition to teaching and school sports activities, is the great point of reference for Amiata volleyball.
The Asd Sayuz Amiata sports association, which is the historic club of Amiata, is present in competitive activities with many young people involved, its nine teams registered in the various championships and weekly activities including preparations, training, various activities and support therapies.
“Sport is a fundamental need for the development and growth of our children – commented Claudia Vagnoli, the sports councilor of the municipality of Piancastagnaio at the inauguration of the redeveloped environments – and today after a beautiful redevelopment project, we are finally able to return to the middle school and to our community a space where they can practice physical activity and cultivate values such as discipline, teamwork and healthy competition. We are therefore proud to be able to contribute to the education of active and above all responsible young citizens”.
