Perrine Laffont: Injury Recovery & 2026 Olympics Hopeful

“Everything is fine” for the Olympic mogul ski champion, Perrine Laffont. Returning to competition at the end of January after a knee injury, the Pyrenees was smiling and relaxed at the end of her first day of training for the Olympic Games, in Livigno, on Saturday.

“I tested a lot of lines. I think I found mine, although I’m not closing myself on all options. I feel in good shape and everything is going well,” declared the 27-year-old athlete a few days before his entry into the running on Tuesday, in qualifying.

“It’s a very good slope, the snow is pleasant to ski. It’s been a long time since we’ve had snow like this. It’s really cool to have an Olympic race in these conditions,” added the six-time world champion, gold medalist in Pyeongchang in 2018.

A disrupted preparation

Under a radiant sun, the Blues of mogul skiing – men and women – did a series of descents and jumps for a large part of the morning, supervised and filmed by the French team management.

“It’s the first day we rediscovered the track. We discovered it last year during the test event. Today, we are here for the Olympics. We are taking advantage of the good conditions to set up,” appreciated Albert Bedouet, the head coach.

Asked by AFP about the state of mind and physical sensations of Laffont, one of the great chances of French medals at the Olympics, whose preparation was disrupted by a knee injury in December, Bedouet wanted to be reassuring.

“It’s always special for an athlete to have a successful start to the season and have a small physical problem that took him away from the slopes for a few weeks. But from what we saw this morning in training, everything is OK,” he declared.
