The agreement between Sporting and Matheus Reis to terminate the contract is in place and after the game against FC Porto the player says goodbye to Alvalade and heads to the Russian side of CSKA Moscow, a club where he has an absolutely stratospheric salary of something like €3.5M per season waiting for him.
The contract with the Moscow team will be valid until 2029, that is, for three and a half seasons, with one more option, so at least the Alvalade club’s number 2 player will earn €12.5M during his stay in the current 4th place in the Russian League.
CSKA is owned by billionaire Evgeny Giner, with whom, in light of the sanctions imposed by the European Union, business cannot be done, which is why the left-footed player will terminate his contract with Sporting and will be free to sign for the Muscovites, as he is at the end of his contract with the Lions and it has been known for a long time that he would not renew. Matheus Reis, 30 years old, arrived in Alvalade in January 2021.
In total, the left-footed player played 222 games with the green and white team and scored three goals. He now returns to Rui Borges’ list of options after serving two suspension games following the direct red card with which he was booked in Arouca, after the end of the match.
