Even on the day of the OlympicsOpening ceremonywhich takes place this Friday (8 p.m.), competitions are already underway in three sports. The opening formula will be Italy’s president Sergio Mattarella speak. There will be numerous politicians at the stadium in Milan, including from the USA – host of the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles – Vice President JD Vance and Foreign Minister Marco Rubio. Federal President Frank Walter Steinmeier represents Germany.
For Music The show will be performed by Mariah Carey, Laura Pausini, Cecilia Bartoli, Andrea Bocelli and Lang Lang. There may be surprise guests. Around 1,200 volunteers are involved in the opening ceremonies, as well as 500 musicians. In the ARD Tom Bartels and the journalist Giovanni di Lorenzo comment. Eurosport with Sigi Heinrich also broadcasts.
Also one eleven year old boy will participate. A spokesman for the organizing committee confirmed this to the AFP news agency. Because of an unpaid, overpriced bus ticket, young Riccardo was stuck in the snow near Cortina. He went home from school with a normal price ticket (2.50 euros). The bus company had increased the fare to ten euros because of the games; Riccardo had to get out and walk home in the cold. The incident caused great excitement; the driver spoke of a “serious mistake”.
