There are three flames from his basketball lions. National basketball player Dennis Schröder is leaving the Sacramento Kings after a short time – and moving within the NBA.

The captain of the German national basketball team, Dennis Schröder, is moving from the Sacramento Kings to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The club announced this on Sunday. The 32-year-old World and European champion is part of a deal between three teams with four players swapped.

Schröder had already posted a picture in his Kings jersey with the brief addition “Thx Sacramento” in his Instagram stories. The German playmaker is moving to the Cavaliers together with Keon Ellis. In return, De’Andre Hunter is coming to Sacramento. Schröder greeted his new club with the words “Welcome to the Land, Dennis Schröder!” welcomed in an Instagram post. In addition to the Braunschweig Basketball Lions, a former Eintracht player, Martin Kobylanski, also commented on the post and responded with applause and a flame.

The Chicago Bulls are also involved in the trade. They are getting Dario Saric from the Kings as well as two second-round draft picks, they announced on their website.

For Schröder, the move represents a new opportunity after a disappointing interlude in California. The Cavaliers are on course for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. Sacramento was last at the bottom of the Western Conference. In 40 appearances for the Kings, Schröder mostly came off the bench and averaged 12.8 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 26 minutes.

Cleveland is already Schröder’s eleventh stop in the NBA. He previously played for Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Los Angeles (Lakers), Boston, Houston, Toronto, Brooklyn, Golden State, Detroit and Sacramento. After five years in Atlanta and two years in Oklahoma City, Schröder has developed into the league’s traveling bird since 2020.
