Martial Arts Gala: Master Giaverina Awarded 9th DAN

The victories of the athletes, coaches and clubs, achieved in the sports season just ended, were celebrated in the great party held in the Sala dei Notari. “Grand Gala of Federal Martial Arts Ernesto Giaverina“was a success. Over 200 people awarded by the Regional Committee I’m sorry which awarded ‘Youth 2.0’ scholarships to the clubs that registered the greatest number of young people in 2025 for the promotion of Judo, Lotta, Karate, Jujitsu e Personal Defense MGA. ‘Champions at School’ scholarships also awarded to athletes who also recorded an excellent school average.

The highlight of the event came when the ninth dan, the highest recognition in Italy, was awarded to the Maestro’s wife Lidia and daughters Barbara and Francesca Ernesto Giaverina. The moment in which the ‘Pioneers of Judo’ took to the stage was exciting: those athletes, officials and technicians who were among the first to practice ‘Japanese wrestling’, accompanying Master Ernesto Giaverina starting from the 1950s and who laid the foundations of the colorful world of martial arts in the entire Region.

The memory of the family of the coach from Foligno Andrea Ceccaroni who passed away in September was touching, preceding the consecration of those reported as athletes of the year Alessandro Bicorgni (Judo), Clay Madio (Wrestling), Ettore Mostarda (Karate), Andrea Calzoni (JuJitsu). The occasion of the Grand Gala allowed the sixth dan to be awarded to Maestro Romeo Cappella and the seventh dan to Maestro Giuseppe Guiducci, who at the age of ninety practice judo with very young students.

President Andrea Arena was satisfied: “Really a beautiful party, the party of the great family of federal martial arts disciplines”.
