LeBron James: Record Streak Continues | NBA News

LeBron James’ record streak of All-Star selections continues.

Sunday night, James was named to the All-Star team for the 22nd straight time.

In the West, the other players named along with James are Kevin Durant (Houston), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota), Devin Booker (Phoenix), Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City), Denis Avdija (Portland) and Jamal Murray (Denver).

Aged 41, James holds several other records at this event. He participated in the match 20 times and scored 434 points in these matches.

James did not participate in last season’s All-Star Game due to injury

The Los Angeles Lakers star was not selected as a starter this season under the process that includes voting by fans, media and other players. NBA head coaches choose reserves and, if necessary, commissioner Adam Silver will select additional players needed to fill out the roster if someone needs to be replaced due to injury.

In the East, the reserves are Scottie Barnes (Toronto), Jalen Duran (Detroit), Norman Powell (Miami), Jalen Johnson (Atlanta), Pascal Siakam (Indiana), Karl-Anthony Towns (New York) and Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland).

This will be Barnes’ second appearance in the event, after 2024. He is the only NBA player with at least 60 steals and 70 blocks this season.

He leads the league with eight blocks in tough situations (maximum five point difference in the last five minutes of a match).

Barnes is second on the Raptors with 21.9 points per game, on average.

This season’s event will take place as a tournament pitting the United States against the rest of the world, with three teams of at least eight players competing in 12-minute matches. Each team is guaranteed to play two matches in a round-robin format, with the top two teams meeting again in the final.

The players selected last month as starters are: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee), Jaylen Brown (Boston), Cade Cunningham (Detroit), Tyrese Maxey (Philadelphia), Jalen Brunson (New York), Stephen Curry (Golden State), Luka Doncic (Lakers), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City), Nikola Jokic (Denver) and Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio).

The All-Star Game will be played at the Los Angeles Clippers’ Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.
