The national player only came to the Sacramento Kings in the summer. After only 40 games, Schröder’s next move is now coming up. The Cleveland Cavaliers are his eleventh NBA stop.
Dennis Schröder’s next move to the North American professional league NBA has been confirmed. The captain of the German national basketball team is moving from the Sacramento Kings to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the club announced. Schröder is part of a deal between three teams that will see a total of four players swapped.
In his Instagram stories, Schröder had previously posted a picture of himself in a Kings jersey with the brief addition: “Thx Sacramento.” (Thanks Sacramento.) The 32-year-old playmaker is going from the Kings to the Cavaliers along with Keon Ellis, in return De’Andre Hunter is coming to Sacramento. Also involved are the Chicago Bulls, who are receiving Dario Saric from the Kings and two second-round draft picks, they announced on their website.
For Schröder, after a short and disappointing interlude in California, it is an opportunity: the Cavaliers are on course for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference. With Sacramento, Schröder was last at the bottom of the Western Conference. In 40 appearances, the German playmaker mostly came off the bench and averaged 12.8 points, 5.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in just over 26 minutes.
For Schröder, Cleveland is already the eleventh stop in the North American professional league after Atlanta, Oklahoma City, Los Angeles (Lakers), Boston, Houston, Toronto, Brooklyn, Golden State, Detroit and Sacramento. After initially five years in Atlanta and two years in Oklahoma City, the 32-year-old world and European champion became a traveling bird in the league from 2020 onwards. By the way, the record holder in this regard is Ish Smith, who played for 13 different clubs during his career until 2024.
