Le Plateau: Sports & Leisure Guide

Whether you are a fan of combat sports, dance, swimming or family activities, there are a variety of options for all ages and levels. Better yet, these activities are often offered free of charge by the borough and its partners!

In order to better meet the sporting and physical activity requirements of its community, the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough launched its first action plan in this area in May 2025.

In collaboration with local partners, this plan was developed to improve the service offering, accessibility and communications. It contains 19 specific measures to promote the participation of all members of the community.

The objective is to make physical activity more inclusive, more accessible, and better communicated, for the benefit of the entire population of Plateau-Mont-Royal.

With that, here are the sports and activities currently offered on Le Plateau…

Martial arts and boxing

Le Plateau offers kendo, capoeira, judo and karate classes for children. Adults can also enjoy boxing, kickboxing and self-defense classes. The courses are offered by theMilton-Parc Recreational Associationthe YMCA is not Parcthe Relaunch of leisure activities all 9 as well as the Sand center.

Badminton

Free badminton areas are available at Center of the Plateauto the Relaunch of leisure activities all 9at theMilton-Parc Recreational Association as well as to Sand center.

Baseball

Enjoy the baseball fields at La Fontaine, Jeanne-Mance and Laurier parks from May to September. To reserve land, find out the rates or rental regulations, you can make a request by email toMontreal Ball Sports Association.

Basketball

sign up for free basketball activities for adults and children offered by theMilton-Parc Recreational Associationthe YMCA is not Parcthe Relaunch of leisure activities all 9, Sun Youth and the Sablon center.

You can also play for free at the Mile End outdoor basketball court located under the Van Horne viaduct, at the corner of Bernard Est and Cloutier streets.

Puck stick and ringette

At the Mont-Royal arena, take part in free puck-stick periods for children and teenagers under 17 years old. Ringette activities are also offered by Ringuette Mile-End.

Cardio and stretching

Take part in cardio and stretching classes offered by theMilton-Parc Recreational Associationthe Relaunch of leisure activities all 9the YMCA is not Parc and the Center of the Plateau. Activities like pilates, high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and Latin aerobic dancing (zumba) are available.

Aerial circus

The aerial circus at Sand Center offers thrills and guaranteed fun, whether you are a beginner or experienced. Explore the hoop, the fabric, the rope and the trapeze in dynamic and safe aerial classes.

Running and walking

Enjoy the indoor running track at Center of the Plateau at a low price. A walking club is also offered.

Danse

Ballet, contemporary, K-pop, oriental and hip-hop dance classes are offered for children and adults by theMilton-Parc Recreational Associationthe Relaunch of leisure activities all 9the Center of the Plateauthe YMCA is not Parc and the Sand Center.

Football

Boys ages 7-17 can join the Hornets team Sun Youth.

Golf

Practice your golf swing at Center of the Plateau.

Gymnastics and acrobatic sports

Gymnastics and acrobatic sports classes Sand Center are open to everyone, regardless of level or age. The qualified team guarantees safety and fun.

Weightlifting

Au Sand Centerweightlifting is accessible to everyone, regardless of level. Improve your technique to lift impressive weights in a safe and stimulating environment.

Handball

Children aged 8 to 12 can play handball at the Saint-Denis leisure center. The activity is organized by the Relaunch of leisure activities all 9.

Ball hockey and cosom

Introductions to cosom hockey are offered for children and adults by theMilton-Parc Recreational Associationa Relaunch of leisure activities all 9 and the Center of the Plateau.

Ice hockey

Take advantage of free hockey periods at the Mont-Royal arena. Visit the sites of Women’s Hockey Montreal, Young Athletes Hochelaga a you Centre-Sud Hockey Club to play in a league.

Children aged 5 to 11 can also join the Hornets Sun Youth to learn the basics of the sport.

Kinball

L’Milton-Parc Recreational Association offers kinball lessons for children.

Swimming, aquafitness and other aquatic activities

Swim in the district’s indoor and outdoor pools. Swimming lessons are offered there by Loisirs Montréal.

Petanque

Play pétanque in La Fontaine and Laurier parks.

Soccer

You can play soccer in certain Plateau parks from April to November.

Cross-country skiing

Enjoy the cross-country ski trails in La Fontaine and Jeanne-Mance parks in winter.

Spikeball

Play spikeball at the Saint-Denis leisure center. There Relaunch of leisure activities all 9 also lends equipment to the Laurier Park chalet.

Spinning (cardiovélo)

Take part in spinning classes at Center of the Plateau.

Tennis

Play tennis at the courts of La Fontaine and Jeanne-Mance parks. Low-cost reservations are available through Loisirs Montréal. Tennis Montreal also offers training and a league. L’Milton Parc Recreational Association also offers a training course with its Mini tennis activity, just like the Center of the Plateau.

Volleyball

Play beach volleyball at the courts at Jeanne-Mance and La Fontaine parks. There Relaunch of leisure activities all 9 also offers slots at some of its facilities.

Yoga, tai-chi and relaxation

Yoga, tai chi and relaxation classes are offered by the Center of the Plateaul’Milton Parc Recreational Association and the YMCA is not Parc.
