General

HEDEL – The ‘Keep Hedel Clean’ committee of the Hedel Village Council has recently become extra recognizable due to the new safety vests with the skyline of the village on it. The vests were purchased thanks to a subsidy from the ‘Good idea, do something with it’ from the municipality of Maasdriel.

In recent months, the Hedel village council has been expanded with the ‘Keep Hedel clean’ committee, which is committed to cleaning up litter in the village. The first litter clean-up morning of this year was planned for Saturday, January 10, but due to the snow it was moved to January 31.

New volunteers
The subsidy will expire at the end of December 2025 ‘Good idea, do something with it’ received and safety vests with the skyline of Hedel and waste bag holders could be ordered. The order was delivered in the last week of January, allowing the volunteers to start working on this first edition of 2026 in a new way. This morning new faces were also greeted, making the group consist of fourteen volunteers.

Fireworks remains
The expansion of the group was very nice, because an enormous amount of litter, including a large part of fireworks remains, emerged from under the melted snow. There was a lot of waste to clean up, especially at the shops, Kasteellaan, around the castle, at the reformed church and the countryside.

Next time on March 14
The next clean-up morning is on Saturday, March 14 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. New volunteers are welcome. The meeting point is at Seniorenhof De Munt (Dreef 3), where safety vests, prods and waste bag holders are available. Participants must provide their own sturdy shoes and work gloves. Afterwards, the volunteers drink coffee or tea together.
