Last Sunday, Feyenoord lost without a chance when they visited PSV. The Rotterdam team was already facing a 3-0 deficit after twenty minutes, which was ultimately limited to just three goals. Afterwards, not only the supporters, but also the media were critical, and for weeks the position of head coach Robin van Persie has been questioned. Hugo Borst added fuel to the fire in his column on Monday morning.
According to Borst, assistant coach René Hake has publicly criticized Van Persie. “In front of quite a few (former) colleagues, at the centenary celebrations at Emmen, he sketched the image of trainer Van Persie as a poor communicator,” the Rotterdammer begins in his column in the Algemeen Dagblad.
“Robin is surrounded by many experts, but he almost never does anything with their recommendations. Indeed, we already knew those stories from Heerenveen,” the author continues.
For the first time this season, Feyenoord is no longer in a Champions League place: NEC has fewer losing points. Ajax is also on the fence. “That second place was a valid argument not to remove Van Persie from office, because those millions are needed to allow Feyenoord to grow. Van Persie is lucky that when his boss fires him, Dennis te Kloese himself is also seen. After the failed Danish trainer Priske, he is the second fired trainer to his name,” Borst concludes.
