Celaya, Gto.- The intense activity continues in the state of Guanajuato, with the state selections heading to the 2026 National Olympics. The cities of Celaya and Irapuato are home to the qualifiers in basketball, weightlifting and archery, from which the best representatives of the state of Guanajuato will emerge in the regional and national stages.
Celaya was the venue for the first of the two state archery qualifiers, which will be held to form the Guanajuato delegation that will go directly to the ON2026. During a single day, 43 archers sought the minimum marks to climb the national ranking and reach among the best 32 in each category that will be in the amateur competition to be held in the state of Tlaxcala.
The second qualifier will be held at the Macrocentro Deportivo León 1, on March 7 and from there the best marks of each athlete will be taken into account to filter them to the national ranking and meet the Guanajuato delegation that will seek the national podium.
WEIGHTPROOFING AND BASKETBALL
Simultaneously with archery, in the city of Irapuato actions are carried out in the basketball disciplines in the 13-14 year old category, as well as in weightlifting where more than 120 weightlifters from the U10-12, U15, U17, U20 and U23 categories seek to qualify for the next stage. Both sports conclude this Sunday with the champions heading to the regional phase.
