Gilli on Immobile Link-Up & Paris FC Ambitions

The Parisian promoted coach takes stock of the winter transfer window and in particular the signing of 35-year-old Italian international striker Ciro Immobile.

Stéphane Gilli, the coach of Paris FC, confided that when Ciro Immobile, 35, his star recruit of the winter, “gets up in the morning, he still thinks about scoring goals”hoping “let him score as many as possible” with the capital club. “He has nothing left to prove. When I spoke with him, I still felt the flame, a lot of desire. He’s a competitor. He told me that when he gets up in the morning, he still thinks about scoring goals. I’m looking forward to him scoring as many as possible with us.”explained Gilli about his new striker, who came to relaunch at Paris FC after a missed first part of the season in Bologna.

Paris FC plays its 8th final of the Coupe de France in Lorient on Wednesday, but the club “not going to take any risks” with the scorer who will join the group “gradually”indicated the technician.

The Italian international, whose last of his 57 selections dates back to September 2023, still hopes to return to the Nazionale which will play play-offs in March to qualify for the 2026 World Cup this summer in the United States, Mexico and Canada. “We talked a lot by video. I told him that I was not going to teach him to score goals, to move. What I felt was that he was interested in our project, that he liked the way the team plays, the football they play.continued Gilli, also confident of having “make a bet” with his player upon arrival “on the number of goals he will score”without revealing this figure however.

In addition to the former Lazio scorer, Paris FC, owned by the Arnault family and Red Bull, recruited four other players this winter (Marshall Munetsi, Diego Coppola, Luca Koleosho and the young Rudy Matondo, 17) to ensure its maintenance in Ligue 1 (the ranking here), its stated objective this season.

Professionalism and joy

“We recruited competitors in matches, but also in training” commented Gilli about his winter transfer window. “These players bring professionalism, but also joy. They are all sunny because they know that they have a great job. When we see the fire that Ciro exudes, at 35 years old, it makes us want to have him in our squad”he concluded.
