Finland vs Canada Hockey: Virus Postponement

The women’s hockey match between Finland and Canada has been postponed for a week. The cause is a very contagious virus which affects Finnish players.

The match of the women’s ice hockey tournament at the 2026 Olympic Games in Milan Cortina between Finland and Canada, initially scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed due to a virus plaguing the Finnish team, organizers announced.

“The decision was taken following discussions with doctors after cases of norovirus were identified in the Finnish team”explained Milano Cortina 2026 and the International Ice Hockey Federation in a joint press release.

The meeting, counting for the group stage of the women’s tournament, will now take place on February 12, organizers said.

According to the Italian television channel Rai, four Finnish players are affected by this norovirus, a form of highly contagious virus which causes diarrhea and vomiting, and have been placed in isolation.
