Ex-Anderlecht Player: Transfer Search After Coach Criticism

Amir Murillo is sidelined at Olympique Marseille. The former wing defender of RSC Anderlecht was criticized and was removed from the team by Roberto De Zerbi.

Amir Murillo (29) appears not to wear the Olympique de Marseille shirt anymore. The Panamanian full-back came to Marseille in 2023 and was a regular this season with 16 league games (2 goals and 2 assists), but Roberto De Zerbi is no longer convinced of his qualities.

According to the French press, OM’s coach reportedly removed him from the first team due to repeated defensive errors. That decision followed shortly after the lost match in Bruges (3-0), at a time when tension was increasing in Marseille.

Murillo to Turkey or the MLS?

The result: Murillo, although quite loved by the supporters, is effectively about to leave and is looking for a solution at the last minute for the rest of the season, reports Provence. That is not easy, because the transfer market is already closed in most countries.

The ex-defender of RSC Anderlecht may still be able to work in Turkey, where the transfer period closes this week. La Provence speaks of ongoing negotiations with Besiktas. The MLS, where Amir Murillo broke through with the NY Red Bulls, also remains an option until the end of March.
