After a successful debut, Endrick will have to stay on the sidelines for some time. Established on the attacking front with Olympique Lyonnais against FC Nantes at La Beaujoire, the Brazilian striker received a direct red card on the hour mark, while his team led 1-0 thanks to a goal from Pavel Sulc.
The 19-year-old young man, on loan from Real Madrid this winter, was guilty of a bad gesture on Dehmaine Tabibou. The number 9 of the Rhone club kicked the Nantes piston in the ankle, when the ball was already no longer in play in the duel between the two men.
Already warned after less than two minutes of play for having prevented Mathis Abline from going on the counter, the Palmeiras-trained player then saw the referee of the match Mathieu Vernice grant him a second yellow card synonymous with expulsion… before he was called by his video assistants. The reason? Quite simply to cancel the second warning and send him a direct red card (61st minute).

The sanction for an expulsion following two warnings is automatically one match. With the modification of this decision, and the direct red card, Endrick is exposed here to a longer suspension which will not do OL’s business. The club is preparing to face a complicated schedule in the coming weeks. Paolo Fonseca’s players will host Nice (February 15), will go to Strasbourg (February 22) before playing Olympico against Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome (March 1) and hosting Lens in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France (March 5).
Olympique Lyonnais ended up winning by the smallest of margins against FC Nantes who did not deserve anything by touching the amounts three times. Les Gones move up to 3rd place while awaiting the clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille on Sunday (8:45 p.m.).
