She’s not a diva but she’s close: she attracts much of the attention not only for the silver medal she won in the sci freestyle it is the athlete who competes for the China (but of American origins) Eileen Gu22 years old born in San Francisco.
Who is the “Snow Princess”
Every time Gu takes her boots off her skis, the crowd is there waiting for her even if it takes hours to complete commitments with the international media. In this context the athlete is totally at ease knowing perfectly how to take the biggest and most important stage (the Olympic one) to show off some of his greatest skills: he dances, speaks fluent English and Mandarin, discusses President Trump and possibly a minute later talks about Physics.
The most requested athlete
Defined as “The Snow Princess”, the Swiss opponent who preceded her in the race and won the gold medal spoke about her, Mathilde Gremaud, “She has the craziest life of all,” she declared. Gu is the most requested athlete in Livigno (home of her competitions) according to the facility’s media manager, Egon Theiner. “I’m a writer, I work with words, I hear her speak and think: ‘Oh my God!'” he told international media. “It’s become bigger than skiing. Bigger than sports.”
The most successful ever
Regardless of gossip or what happens in her private life, Eileen Gu is already the most successful freestyle skier ever, with a record of 20 World Cup victories, two Olympic golds and three silvers. “A one-of-a-kind athlete,” American snowboarding legend Shaun White told The Athletic. “She parades, wins medals and attends Stanford, all at the same time. It’s crazy. It’s a real anomaly.”
Speaking of life outside of skiing, she’s posed for Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue while walking the runways of Milan and Paris.
Forbes recently reported that Gu is the highest paid athlete ever at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Games. She receives wire transfers of $23 million annually and the revenues she gets from skiing are “measly”, only $100,000.
