Present at a press conference before the Belgian Cup semi-final first leg against Antwerp, Edward Still joked in the face of questions concerning his future as head coach of Anderlecht. The interim T1 obviously didn’t seem to know much more himself.
A little less than twenty-four hours before the kick-off of the semi-final first leg of the Belgian Cup between Sporting Anderlecht and Royal Antwerp, Edward Still delivered his first words as T1 of the Mauves at a press conference, following the dismissal of Besnik Hasi this Monday.
During this first speech, the former head coach of Charleroi, Eupen and Kortrijk was calm, composed, and tried to calm the situation after the slap received during the Clasico. He will be on the bench this Thursday, perhaps also Sunday at Genk, but does not yet know what his future will hold in the coming weeks.
“How do I feel here? Very calm, focused on tomorrow’s match. We don’t play a Cup semi-final every week. It’s incredibly important for the club and for the group,” he said in the Lotto Park press room, before joking about his future.
Edward Still is ironic about his future at Anderlecht
“How long will I stay here? Twenty minutes, the time of the press conference, that’s for sure, right? (laughs). It doesn’t matter, I’m in no hurry. It’s not about becoming T1 at all costs, the right project is important for me. The most important thing is this semi-final. I haven’t been asked to act as interim until the end of the season.”

What about his brother, Will? Would he make a good coach for Anderlecht? “No idea, I’ve never talked about it with him. He has a lot more experience than me. It’s the first time I’ve gone from T2 to T1, while he’s already done it four times. I’m going to try to take advantage of his experience,” concluded Edward Still.
