Driessen & Derksen on Goes: Criticism & Reaction

Valentijn Driessen and Johan Derksen are once again hitting Wouter Goes hard. In the cup match with FC Twente (2-1), the AZ defender got into trouble with Robin Pröpper several times.

“If Goes could screw someone, he wouldn’t resist. This is about nothing,” Driessen begins Today Inside about the incident between Goes and Pröpper. “You may hate his behavior, but the referee is actually responsible for this. He must intervene.”

“Of course. Put him on the spot three times in one match,” Derksen agrees. “Then he unlearns it in one match. This has nothing to do with football. That referee is certainly a wimp. It doesn’t make any progress,” Driessen continues.

Derksen also believes that the club from Alkmaar should take harder action. “I have defended Goes for a long time. He is a boy with a good competitive mentality, but that strange behavior has to go. AZ has to do something about it, because it is not a calling card for the club. A referee has to be cool about it, pay attention to him and just put the ball on the spot.”

“You always get that bullshit with a winning mentality, but they are just sixth. They just lose to PEC Zwolle and Fortuna. What are we talking about? That boy just has to behave,” Driessen concludes.
