Emir Sahiti is leaving Hamburger SV. As the Hanseatic League announced, the 27-year-old offensive player is moving to Israeli Europa League participant Maccabi Tel Aviv on loan until the end of the season. The Kosovar came to HSV from Hajduk Split in August 2024 and was involved in Hamburg’s return to the Bundesliga.

This season, Sahiti was only used twice in the Bundesliga and twice in the DFB Cup. He still has a contract in Hamburg until June 2027. “I am very grateful for my time at HSV so far. Last season in particular with the promotion was a highlight for me,” Sahiti was quoted in the HSV statement.

Vincent Kompany returns to Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion for the first time as Bayern coach on Saturday. “It was a great time,” said the 39-year-old Belgian, referring to his two years at HSV from 2006 to 2008.

“HSV remains a special story for me, but also Hamburg as a city. Everyone who has lived there feels what a special city it is,” he said. Kompany sees HSV as a club with great prospects. The club is “in the process of rebuilding” as a promoted team, but has “the potential to become a huge club”. Normally HSV has to be “at the top in Germany”.

However, Kompany doesn’t think about sentimental gifts. After a January with seven competitive games in three weeks, he doesn’t want to leave any points behind at his former club. “I now want to experience my best time with Bayern Munich,” he made it clear.

After less than a year and a half, Silvan Hefti is leaving Hamburger SV. The Swiss is moving to DC United in the MLS in Washington with immediate effect. There, the 28-year-old defensive player signed a contract until June 2027 with the option to extend it for another season. According to reports, HSV received a transfer fee of around 150,000 euros.

This season Hefti was only used in the second team. “Due to the great competition on the right side of defense, Silvan did not find it easy to collect playing minutes in the current season. Therefore, a change makes sense for all parties,” said HSV sports director Claus Costa. Hefti came to Hamburg from Italian first division club FC Genoa in August 2024 for 1.5 million euros. During his time with the Hanseatic League, he played a total of 20 competitive games (one goal).
