[더팩트ㅣ당진=천기영 기자] Dangjin City, South Chungcheong Province, is emerging as a ‘sports mecca’, attracting attention as a winter training site for national sports teams based on systematic sports facilities and an active attraction strategy.

According to Dangjin City on the 4th, during the month of January, school sports teams and business teams from a total of six sports, including badminton, wrestling, track and field, taekwondo, soccer, and weightlifting, visited Dangjin and conducted intensive training.

In particular, this winter training attracted attention as teams from all over the country participated, including Seongnam, Hwaseong, Yongin in Gyeonggi Province, and Wanju in Jeonbuk.

Dangjin City is equipped with professional training facilities specialized for each sport, including Dangjin Sports Complex, National Sports Center, and Shinsung University weightlifting gym.

In addition, it is a popular training site as it provides convenience in using facilities so that athletes can focus on training and provides customized support in connection with local resources.

A total of 180 people visited Dangjin this season.

As athletes, coaches, and parents stay in Dangjin for a certain period of time and use accommodations and restaurants, we are providing practical help to local small business owners during the winter off-season.

Lim Seong-ryong, head of the Sports Promotion Department of Dangjin City, said, “We hope that athletes from all over the country will train in Dangjin’s excellent facilities and demonstrate their best skills,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen the brand of ‘Sports City Dangjin’ and revitalize the local economy by attracting more field training teams.”
