Chalon Badminton Tournament: 180 Players & 51 Clubs Compete

The Chalon-sur-Saône badminton club organized its kings and queens tournament last weekend at the Maison des sports. This competition was reserved for women’s and men’s doubles as well as mixed doubles. Participation in this event was significant since 180 players were involved representing 51 clubs.

Seven series were entered in the men’s doubles. The Chalonnais Julien Gressard and Yohan Justin were the big favorites in series 1. But they were able to find who to talk to in the final with the Bisontins Gabriel Laugier and Quentin Piaton victorious at the cost of a marathon match (21-16, 14-21, 27-25).

In series 2, Chalonnais Stéphane Marchand and Blanzynois Hugo Janin lost in the semi-finals. Victory went to Chalonnais Luc Brigatti-Jérémy Viger in series 4 at the expense of Cuisery members Maxime Creniaut and Mathieu Parizet (21-19, 20-22, 21-8).

For the women, five series were on the program. The Chalonnaises Coralie Piaton and Anne-Laure Thomas won in series 3 against the association Kiara Giunta (Quetigny) and Patricia Rodrigues (Mâcon): 22-20, 17-21, 21-17. The Mâconnaises Sandrine Descombes and Marie Thepot lost in the final.

Finally in mixed doubles where there were eight series, Chalonnais Coralie Piaton and Luc Brigatti reached the final in series 3.
