Borussia Dortmund will have to be without Emre Can again for a while. How BILD Reportedly, the captain will not be available to BVB until at least the end of February due to renewed injury problems. The newspaper predicts that the 31-year-old will return at the earliest for the top game against FC Bayern Munich on February 28th (6:30 p.m.).
Coach Niko Kovač recently made the loss public and spoke of renewed adductor problems. After BILD-Information, this is probably not the same problem that Can had already struggled with for a long time last year. Rather, the current symptoms should also radiate into the groin area – an area that experience has shown to be sensitive and often results in a longer break.
The renewed failure comes at a bad time for Borussia. Alongside Nico Schlotterbeck, Can is considered one of the team’s leading players. His robustness and tackling skills are difficult to replace in the squad. The former national player also plays an important role off the pitch.
Accordingly, the break is heavy. Can had recently proven his reliability – including a safely converted penalty in the final phase against FC St. Pauli. Now it’s time for Dortmund to improvise first.
