Central defender John Brooks doesn’t want to hang up his boots yet. In an interview with ‘Bild’, the 33-year-old said: “I want to play football. I notice that every day. Especially after such a long phase in which I couldn’t do it. I’m really excited about football.” The contract with Hertha BSC expires next summer, and an extension is not yet off the table for the US international.
“It sounds like a cliché, but all I’ve been concerned with so far is getting myself in the best shape to help my team on the pitch. I’m working hard on that every day. The rest will show”said Brooks. Since his return to Berlin a year and a half ago, the left-footed player has constantly struggled with injuries and has not played a single game. Last Sunday, Brooks was in the squad for the first time in the 2-2 draw against SV Darmstadt, and the first minutes against SV Elversberg await tomorrow, Saturday (1:30 p.m.).
