A striking transfer rumor around
” href=” is doing the rounds in Turkey. According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah The Sunderland striker is emphatically on Fenerbahçe’s list, which sees him as a serious candidate to strengthen the attack towards the end of the transfer period. Transfer journalist Mounir Boualin from SoccerNews however, reports that Sunderland does not intend to cooperate with the transfer.
The Turkish transfer market closes on Friday evening and Fenerbahçe wants to add an extra striker to the selection before that deadline. The club would investigate several options, but the focus would increasingly be on Brobbey.

According to Sabah Fenerbahçe maintains contact with three strikers. The first name is Darwin Núñez from Al-Hilal, but he would not be keen on a move to Istanbul. Marcos Leonardo, who also plays for Al-Hilal, is also on the list. The chance of his arrival is considered somewhat greater.
However, the Turkish newspaper emphasizes that Brobbey is currently considered the most realistic and feasible option. Fenerbahçe is said to have submitted a proposal to Sunderland to rent the 24-year-old striker, with an option to buy. There is emphatically no definitive agreement yet, but within the club Brobbey is seen as an interesting reinforcement from a sporting perspective.
Foreign quota as a stumbling block
A possible transfer is related to the foreign quota at Fenerbahçe. The club is currently at the maximum and must first create space before a new foreign player can be registered. According to Turkish media, that problem seems to be solvable, because Jhon Durán is said to be on his way to Zenit Saint Petersburg.
However, the news about Brobbey is surprising, given his performance in England. The Dutch striker has found his niche at Sunderland and has become an important asset within the team this season, with several decisive goals. Brobbey was particularly busy in January with goals in the matches against Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
Boualin: ‘Sunderland does not want to lose Brobbey, transfer seems off track’
Boualin reported on Thursday evening that Sunderland ‘does not want to lose Brobbey at all’ and that a departure to Turkey is therefore not negotiable. “The transfer window in Turkey is only open tomorrow, and crazy things can happen in football, but as it stands now, Brobbey will not be joining Fenerbahçe and will remain at Sunderland at least until next summer,” said Boualin.
