Botafogo: Brazilian Championship Round 2 – 8th Place Finish

Defeated by Grêmio on Wednesday, the Botafogo ended the second round of Brazilian Championship in eighth place, with three points. The leader is Red Bull Bragantino, the only team to have won both games so far.

This Thursday, at the end of the round, Bahia and Fluminense drew 1-1 at Fonte Nova, the same score as Vasco x Chapecoense in São Januário. At Mineirão, Coritiba surprised Cruzeiro, last placed, winning 2-1.

The second round did not feature Athletico-PR x Corinthians, which will only take place on February 19th – both clubs had commitments for the State Championships this week, as the São Paulo club had a game postponed in Paulistão due to the Super Cup final.

In the next round, Botafogo will face Fluminense at Maracanã, Thursday (12), at 7:30 pm. Before that, Glorioso has another classic, against Vasco, in São Januário, Sunday (8), at 6pm, for the Campeonato Carioca.
