New blow for Real Madrid. Four days after Madrid’s heavy defeat at Benfica in the Champions League, English midfielder Jude Bellingham was injured this Sunday during the Liga match against Rayo Vallecano (2-1). Replaced by Brahim Diaz in the 10th minute, the former Borussia Dortmund player suffers from a muscle injury in his left thigh according to the Spanish club, and is expected to be absent for several weeks.
“After the examinations carried out today on our player Jude Bellingham by the medical services of Real Madrid, an injury to the semi-tendinosus muscle of the left leg was diagnosed,” wrote Real in a press release, without specifying the duration of unavailability of its player.
Bellingham injured himself
According to the Spanish press, the 22-year-old England international, who injured himself during a deep call, should be away from the field for around a month. He could therefore be forfeited for the next Madrid matches, including the confrontation with Benfica Lisbon in the Champions League play-offs (February 17 and 25).
Despite the absence of Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid beat Rayo Vallecano thanks to a last-second penalty from Kylian Mbappé. This is the 4th victory for new coach Alvaro Arbeloa in six matches.
