English midfielder Jude Bellingham is expected to stop for around a month and will, it seems, miss Real Madrid’s double clash with Benfica, for the play-off for access to the ’round of 16′ of the Champions League in football.
Bellingham was injured today in the first minutes of the meeting with Rayo Vallecano, for the 22nd round of the Spanish League, and was substituted after 10 minutes, in yet another agonizing victory for the Merengues (2-1), sealed by a penalty in the 90+10 minutes.
“After the tests carried out today on our player Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid’s medical services, the diagnosis is an injury to the semitendinosus muscle of his left leg”, said the Madrid club’s medical department.
Real Madrid does not progress with an estimated downtime, but, according to the Spanish press, Bellingham will stop for a month and thus miss the two games with Benfica, on February 17th, at Luz, and on the 25th, at the Santiago Bernabéu.
For the first leg, defender Raul Asencio and Brazilian striker Rodrygo are also certain casualties, both sent off in the last game of the league phase, precisely in Luz, where Benfica won 4-2, in a game in which goalkeeper Trubin sealed the qualification for the ‘reds’ with a goal in the 90+8 minutes.
Brazilian central defender Éder Militão, injured, is also not a chance for the Iberian duel.
