BATC 2026: Ester Nurumi Returns as Content Writer

JAKARTA – The Badminton Asia Doubles Championship (BATC) 2026, which starts this week, marks the return of women’s singles badminton player Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo.

Este missed nearly a year with a broken right calf. She announced her recovery late last year and then entered the Indonesian women’s team to participate in the 2026 BATC.

The Jayapura-born badminton player could not hide his excitement at being able to compete again after a long absence since playing at the Taipei Open in May 2024.

“Thank God he was trusted to play this doubles tournament and of course I am happy to be back in this tournament again. From my recovery and preparation to this moment, it has not been easy,” Este said in a statement received.

The 21-year-old athlete must first undergo some medical tests to ensure that he is truly physically ready to compete in competitive events.

The younger brother of men’s singles player Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo said his preparations are going well so far and he hopes to achieve his best results in two years.

“Now it’s just maintenance, from durability and gaming. I tested it on court here, so, yeah, it’s good enough,” he said.

Indonesia Women’s Doubles will play Hong Kong in Group X starting on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Next, they will face the powerful Japanese team on the second day.

In addition to Esther, the Indonesian women’s team also includes Talita Ramadani Viriyawan, Mutyala Ayo Puspitasari, Nikadek Dinda Amartya Pratiwi, Fabriana Dewip Zhu Kusma, Meilia Trias Puspitasari, Rachel Alesia Ross, Phoebe Setianinrum, Siti Fadia Silva Ramadanti and Amalia Kaya Prativi.

The 2026 Asian Doubles Badminton Championships is scheduled to be held from February 3 to 8 at Qingdao Kangsong Stadium in Qingdao, China. A total of 11 countries participated in the women’s group and 12 countries participated in the men’s group.
