Cairo Montenotte. The eighth day of the Western League organized by the Cairese Baseball Club took place on Sunday 1 February at the renovated municipal building. A splendid day of youth baseball in which around seventy children and teenagers between the ages of 8 and 12 competed in 10 exciting games, all against all, under the eyes of a warm and numerous audience.
Cairese, as in the previous concentrations, participated with the two teams of the Lions and the Tigers, protagonists of the first match, which narrowly won 3-2 by the Lions. Very balanced match, good jokes, good defensive actions, and above all a lot of sportsmanship between teammates, rivals for a Sunday.
But the good news doesn’t end there because in the next two matches the two red and white teams both got the better of Mondovì’s Roosters, also in this case at the end of two good, hard-fought matches.
The subsequent matches against Settimo Baseball and the fierce girls of Settimo Flames were much more challenging. The two Turin teams, certainly more experienced, won all the matches of the day, while the derby went to the boys of Settimo Baseball.
However, a very positive day both for the organizers and for the coach of the Cairese team Stefano Bellino who comments as follows: “I am very happy with the growth of the whole group, the new signings are doing very well, who are integrating with great passion. I am also satisfied with the choices made together with the club, for example the registration of two teams in the winter championship of the Western League. Having twenty children who play all the matches of a concentration is tiring but gives great satisfaction”.
Next appointment with the Western League on Saturday 22 February in Mondovì in which the young people from Caire will further sharpen their weapons in view of the final in Novara.
