Badminton is a fast, accessible sport that you play individually, but always together with others. It improves your fitness, requires fast reflexes and is suitable for continued exercise into old age.

It improves your fitness, requires fast reflexes and is suitable for continued exercise into old age.
BV Zuidwester is a Dijk en Waard badminton club that will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026. Recreational sports, fun and conviviality are central to the club. To introduce residents of Dijk en Waard to badminton and the association, Zuidwester is organizing the annual Introduction Tournament on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Members can participate with their own guest, but non-members can also register individually and free of charge. The organization links them to a club member, so that teams are created with as much equal playing strength as possible. In previous editions this resulted in many fun combinations and sporting fun. No experience is necessary: fun and exercise are paramount.
The tournament starts at 8:00 PM (doors open from 7:30 PM). The awards ceremony will take place around 10:20 PM during a pleasant after-party. Prize-winning teams will receive a bottle of wine and a free annual membership of 110 euros will be raffled among all participants.
Participants provide their own sports clothing and shoes. Loaner rackets are available for those who do not have a racket. A maximum of 48 couples can participate. Interested parties who are not participating are also very welcome to come and watch and experience the atmosphere.

BV Zuidwester plays recreationally on Monday evenings in the Deimoshal, Deimoslaan 13 in Heerhugowaard. The contribution is 110 euros per year. New members aged 14 and over, even without experience, are always welcome. The association regularly organizes beginner and advanced training courses.
