It has not been a painless journey. But perhaps the Viktor Gyökeres locomotive has started rolling properly now.
The striker who poured in goals in Portugal has started to find the net more regularly for Arsenal since the turn of the year. Against Sunderland, the Swede’s 12th and 13th goals came for the London team this season.
After the 3-0 victory, which consolidated the “Gunners” series lead in the Premier League, Gyökeres coach Mikel Arteta was satisfied with the Swede.

The Spaniard admits that Gyökeres had a lot of pressure on his shoulders but always showed a strong mental attitude.

– Along the way there will be times when it goes really well and times when it struggles. As for Viktor, it’s really hard to understand his feelings because he’s always in the same kind of situation. It’s like the ups and downs don’t really affect him. He is very demanding of himself and always tries to improve.
The Arsenal coach, who praised Gyökeres for the striker’s efforts throughout the season, praises the Swede after he has now begun to start scoring goals.
– I love his personality and how focused he is on the training plan every day. He really lives in the moment and is a great team player, always trying to help his teammates in any way he can.
Viktor Gyökeres is Arsenal’s top goalscorer this season, with 8 strikes in the Premier League and 13 in all competitions.
Arsenal top the English league, nine points ahead of Manchester City.
