Andy Ogris: Interview with Vienna President Kurt Svoboda

Austria’s oldest football club can look back on a more than mixed autumn.

The journey in the UNIQA ÖFB Cup ended in the second round in Amstetten at the end of August. In the ADMIRAL 2nd league, the self-proclaimed promotion candidate First Vienna FC is only in ninth place – 15 points behind league leaders SKN St. Pölten.

Coach Mehmet Sütcü was released by Döbling after five rounds, and later sports director Andreas Ivanschitz also had to leave.

The reasons for the turbulent autumn and the prospects for the new season analyzed Vienna President Kurt Svoboda am Regulars’ table with Andy Ogrismoderated by LAOLA1-Editor-in-Chief Peter Rietzler.

Advancement? Then Vienna plays in the Generali Arena

The UNIQA board explains why Vienna would have to move to the Generali-Arena in Vienna-Favoriten in the event of a possible promotion to the ADMIRAL Bundesliga, as well as its demand not to continue to adhere to the 50+1 rule unconditionally.

“Football in Vienna is certainly interesting for international investors with its proximity to Bratislava, Budapest or Prague. And we should not and must not ignore that,” says Svoboda.
