Sant Joan DespíAnother victory for Blaugrana in Liga F. And there are already seventeen. Pere Romeu’s team – with rotations – won comfortably against a Sevilla team that barely got past midfield (4-1). Kika Nazareth, with a shot without looking at the goal, opened the can and Sydney Schertenleib, Salma Paralluelo and again Kika completed the scoring. Alexia Putellas, who came on in the 60th minute, has devoted himself to distributing assists on the field to maintain the ten point margin over Real Madrid before visiting the whites in the quarter-finals of the Copa de la Reina (Thursday at 21:00).
It was not the captain’s only gift to the spectators at the Johan Cruyff stadium. The fans have been met with a surprise: a letter written by hand by Alexia Putellas to thank the fans for their support. An initiative framed in the creation of the new brand of the soccer player from Mollet del Vallès in collaboration with Nike. The logo represents a crown – she is called the Queen –, an eleven in honor of her number and an A, in her name. The Barcelona captain continues to break records – not only on the pitch – and is on par with athletes of the stature of Michael Jordan or Leo Messi, who also have their own clothing line. Precisely, she was in charge of offering the Spanish Super Cup trophy – which they won on January 24 in Castellón against Madrid – to the fans.
There have been few more surprises in a match that has had the script imagined by everyone. Sevilla defended in their own field, while Barça monopolized possession. Everything indicated that the first goal would be a matter of time. And so it has been. Kika – involuntarily and without looking – opened the can after a corner. The Portuguese attacker, with his back to the goal, tried to put the ball back in the danger zone with the fortune that the ball ended up beating Esther Sullastres.
They doubled Kika Nazareth
At 1-0, Iris Arnaiz had the option of equalizing in one of the few attempts of the Andalusian team, but his shot crashed against the crossbar. Sevilla’s other chances came from the boots of Fatou Kanteh, who had two actions against Cata Coll that the Balearic goalkeeper was able to stop. Earlier, however, Schertenleib had made it 2-0 after a deflected shot by a rival player.
With the match settled, Alexia Putellas – who gave away cards to the fans before the match – came in to also hand out gifts on the pitch. The Barça captain – who was wearing boots from her new collection – assisted Salma Paralluelo and Kika to decide the duel. In this way, the Portuguese player has completed a good match with a double. Before the end, Cerrato cut the distance for Sevilla after a deep pass that overcame the Barça defence.
Barça overcomes the procedure against Sevilla and is already thinking about next Thursday’s Cup game (9 p.m.) in Madrid. The Catalans will play a single game to be in the semifinals of the competition and continue to qualify for all the titles.
