Ajax has made an offer to Fenerbahçe for both Edson Alvarez and Fred. At least, that is what Turkish transfer journalist Bersan Taskaya claims. The two midfielders have been in the picture in Amsterdam for some time to strengthen the number six position.
It is a well-known story that Ajax hopes to attract an experienced controller this winter. The Amsterdam club management has until Tuesday evening at 11:59 PM to achieve this, because then the transfer market closes. According to Taskaya, Ajax has made an ‘official offer’ for both Alvarez and Fred at Fenerbahçe.
Through that offer, Ajax hopes to bring one of the two players to Amsterdam before the transfer market closes. N’Golo Kanté is quickly on his way to Fenerbahçe, which means the club may be open to a departure for Alvarez or Fred. However, Kanté has not yet been presented to the Turkish top club.
Previously reported The Telegraph although Ajax still hopes for Alvarez’s return. “They are still discussing that,” Ajax watcher Mike Verweij said on Monday. “They are prepared to continue there, because it can be there immediately and also knows Ajax better than Fred.”
