Aerodium: Latvia’s Moment of Cultural Pride

The show, directed by Regnārs Vaivars, is based on facts from the history of Latvian bobsleigh, with special emphasis on the work of engineer Rolands Upatnieks in the 80s of the 20th century. Upatnieks created the first USSR national team in bobsleigh, in which 95% of the athletes were Latvians, and the sledges he designed earned the globally recognized nickname “Latvian rockets”. The play, which won the “Gamer’s Night” award as the big show of the year, explores the heroism of Latvian men and their ability to reach the top.
