Coach gives update: Ski star Vonn possibly seriously injured
Ski star Lindsey Vonn may have been seriously injured after falling in the Olympic downhill. “Apparently it’s supposed to be a fracture in the lower leg,” says the US women’s speed coach, Alex Hödlmoser, to Swiss Radio and Television (SRF). But nothing more precise is known yet; the 41-year-old is being further examined.
After her violent fall on the Olimpia delle Tofane slope in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Vonn was left screaming in pain, treated for a long time and finally taken to a hospital by helicopter become.
“That was definitely the last thing we wanted to see,” Vonn’s sister Karin Kildow tells NBC. “When something like that happens, you immediately hope she’s OK, and it was scary. When you see the stretchers being set up, it’s not a good sign.” Vonn will continue to be medically examined, Kildow said. The family received no further information.
