You have the news, we have a little bit!
The most business-like victory of the tournament came from runner-up Noah Haase. In the eighth final of the men’s singles he won 21-8 and 21-7 against Bart Hoksbergen. Only 57 points in total, a margin of +27. For an R16 match in the main tournament, this is exceptionally efficient. There were also good results in other components. In the women’s singles, Maureen Zewald qualified with a game of 21-5, the largest game score of the entire National Championship.
At the other end of the spectrum was the quarter-final between Anouk van Wijk and Nasim Safayi. The score: 18-21, 21-13, 26-24. Together good for 123 points, the longest match of the tournament. The deciding game until 26-24 was immediately the longest game of the National Championship. The mixed doubles final also produced a long battle: 21-10, 17-21, 22-20. With 111 points this was the longest final.
Champions and their numbers
In the men’s singles, Adith Karthikeyan Priya was crowned champion. He lost only one game, in the semi-final against Jasper Koppen. In the women’s singles, Flora Wang did the same: one game loss, further control.
The men’s doubles were won by Noah Haase and Ties van der Lecq, who only had to lose a game in the final. In the mixed doubles, Brian Wassink and Debora Jille took the title after a three-game match.
The most striking champion couple, however, was in the women’s doubles: Iris van Leijsen and Cheryl Seinen won the tournament without losing a single game. From 21-6 in the quarter-final to 22-20 in the final: always ahead, never really in danger.
Double finalists
Two players reached two finals and won one title: Noah Haase and Brian Wassink. Haase reached the final in the singles and won the doubles. Wassink won the mixed doubles and reached the final of the men’s doubles. Both left their mark on the tournament on Sunday.
Qualifiers who advanced
Several qualifiers impressed. Ties van der Lecq won the men’s doubles title through the qualifications. Iris van Leijsen even won a national title in women’s doubles. And players such as Jessy Molier, Jelle Vet and Rehmat Zulfiqar also reached the main tournament and won matches.
Striking figures
The 2026 Badminton National Championship showed how broad the top is, but also how sharp the differences can sometimes be. From 21-5 to 26-24: the numbers made the tournament a rich and versatile championship. Although… the players did it, the numbers illustrate it.
