Yuri Alberto: Corinthians Pre-Season Absence Explained

Top scorer for Corinthians in 2025, striker Yuri Alberto will not return to CT Joaquim Grava this Saturday (3) along with the rest of the Corinthians squad. The player traveled to Italy on Friday (2) and is expected to miss Timão’s pre-season week.

The number 9 embarked towards Europe to continue the Italian citizenship process. The Corinthians board was already aware of the athlete’s commitment. The information was initially released by reporter André Galvão, from SBTand confirmed by Itatiaia.

Yuri Alberto should return to Brazil within a week and will report to CT Joaquim Grava to begin training with the rest of the squad.

Timão’s first match of the season is on January 11th, Sunday, at 4pm, against Ponte Preta, at the Neo Química Arena, in the first round of the Campeonato Paulista.

Yuri Alberto considered for Italian club

The Corinthians striker was approached by Roma, from Italy, in August 2025. At the time, the club offered approximately 30 million euros (R$190.7 million) for the player.

Despite the proposal, Yuri chose to stay at Timão and renewed his contract with the São Paulo club until July 2030.

According to the Italian newspaper Corriere dello SportRoma have not yet completely ruled out their desire to sign the striker. The newspaper stated that Yuri remains on the Italian club’s list of interests and that club representatives met with those responsible for the athlete in November.
