The State of Yucatán will consolidate itself as a High Performance Center of the Americas in archery, after the announcement of the construction of specialized facilities in the Wireless Sports Complex.
This project will be executed during 2026 through a joint investment of 40 million pesos between the State Government and the National Commission of Physical Culture and Sports (Conade), in collaboration with World Archery México.
The infrastructure, which will begin its adaptation in January, will position the entity as one of the two development poles for this discipline in the country, along with Baja California Norte.
The center’s objective is the internationalization and massification of sport, benefiting athletes from southern Mexico and neighboring countries such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama and Belize.
The works should be completed in February 2026, the month in which Yucatán will host the Indoor World Series 500, from the 13th to the 15th, at the Yucatán Siglo XXI Convention and Exhibition Center.
This world-class competition will feature high-level international archers, who will compete in the indoor category at a distance of 18 meters with two-centimeter targets in the central circle.
At the state level, the calendar of activities will begin on January 11, with the Copa de Reyes in Tizimín. This event will serve as the third selective control to integrate the Yucatecan delegation that will participate in the National Olympiad. Likewise, the first formal selection of the process was scheduled for the period between February 27 and March 1.
Yucatán reaches these commitments after an outstanding performance in 2025, the year in which the state delegation was crowned national champion in the Olympics held in Tlaxcala.
In this edition, the Yucatecan archers obtained a total of 46 medals, broken down into 24 gold medals, 10 silver and 12 bronze.
