World Cup: DFB decides to distribute $60 tickets for fans
The German Football Association determines which supporters can get discounted tickets for the World Cup and how. Loyalty should pay off.
A good five months before the German national team’s first World Cup game, it is clear how loyal fans will get their hands on the discounted tickets. As the German Football Association announced, 70 percent of the so-called $60 tickets will go to the members of the national team fan club with the most bonus points. The remaining 30 percent is awarded via fan club supervisors and to independent fan clubs. The prerequisite for this is an application for admission tickets by January 13th at 5 p.m.
In mid-December 2025, the world association FIFA introduced the small special contingent of tickets for 60 US dollars (51 euros) after sharp criticism of the high ticket prices for the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. This is intended to reward loyal supporters of the participating national teams. The so-called base rank for fans applies to all World Cup participants and all 104 World Cup games, i.e. from the preliminary round to a possible final. The national associations decide how the tickets are allocated.
It’s not about a lot of tickets
However, there is a manageable number of tickets: Germany, like all other teams, has eight percent of the tickets available per game for the fan block. According to FIFA, ten percent of these tickets will then be in the new basic rank. According to the DFB, there would be 581 tickets against Curaçao (June 14 in Houston), 395 against Ivory Coast (June 20 in Toronto) and 632 against Ecuador (June 25 in East Rutherford). For possible knockout games, the number of tickets is between 450 and 600.
The international fan association Football Supporters Europe welcomed the introduction of the $60 ticket, but criticized the number of tickets as being too small.
Criticism of prices was great
The DFB regretted the sometimes horrendous ticket prices. The cheapest tickets in the national team’s fan block for the three group games next summer were previously available for the first group game against Curaçao from 155 euros. For a ticket against Ivory Coast on June 20th in Toronto you have to shell out at least 190 euros. Supporters of the DFB selection could watch the last group game against Ecuador live in the stadium, at best for 230 euros.
The maximum prices for the preliminary round games are 430 euros (first game), 515 euros (second game) and 600 euros (third game). The current sales phase for tickets runs until January 13th, followed by a raffle among the applications. The World Cup will take place from June 11th to July 19th in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
