Communication Department

Goalkeeper with the most titles in the club’s entire history, the third with the most victories, the second with the most games without conceding goals. Weverton Pereira da Silva’s time at Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras will be marked by dedication to each training session, commitment to each match, performance at Brazilian national team level, moments of glory and resilience, but, without a doubt, it will also be immortalized by the impressive records achieved over almost eight years defending the Alviverde colors.

Bold, confident, with excellent positioning and one of the most accurate ball throws in world football, Weverton soon became a legitimate representative of the Verdão Goalkeeping Academy. Hired in 2018, he started the year as the third option in the position and ended the Brazilian Championship as the protagonist of the title, including winning the Silver Ball and completing nine consecutive games without conceding goals during the season, the second best record in the club’s history, behind only Zetti, with 12 games in 1987.

The year 2020 crowned Weverton’s time at Palmeiras once and for all. First, the archer shone in winning the Campeonato Paulista over arch-rivals Corinthians in the final, defending two penalty kicks. Afterwards, starting every game in the Libertadores, he was one of Palmeiras’ main names in the South American title campaign, being elected to the championship team. And, to finish, the undefeated title of the Copa do Brasil, ending with a flourish the season in which he won almost all possible individual awards, including another Silver Ball.

In 2021, another season being decisive. The number 21 was one of Palmeiras’ big names in winning the third Libertadores trophy, once again being elected to the championship team. In addition, he won the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) award for best goalkeeper in the 2021 Brazilian Championship. In 2022 and 2023, in Verdão’s second national championship, Weverton received two more trophies, the CBF in 2022 and the Silver Ball in 2023.
