The match was over, the spectators at this intense summit might have thought. However, one phase would change everything, which occurred in the 26th minute. Or rather a controversial decision by referee Simon Corbay who sent off Cremer for a foul on Tepe in the area. Did Cremer’s intervention justify the double punishment applied by the game director? Opinions differed on this subject.
Lauwrensens, with the help of the post and… the head of Bizimana who had taken his place in the goals, transformed the penalty kick and reignited the suspense in this match without time out where the Brabançons most often took the initiative but suffered in the face of the rapid and scathing Gaumaise reactions, orchestrated by a particularly clairvoyant Arib – Guillaume duo.
Like that of the 44th minute, when Namri, launched by V. Guillaume, cleared Delhaye to place the leather between the legs of Cremers.
This match was far from over, however. In the second half, two attempts by Arib narrowly failed, a free kick from Lauwrensens shook the bar then Tubize-Braine benefited from a second penalty kick (after a very questionable handball from Aloé on a point-blank shot from Lauwrensens) transformed by Rajsel even if Bizimana touched the ball again.
Arib and Ntenda miss the boat
Brncic’s men played their best, worried Bizimana via a good incursion from Salazaku, but also discovered themselves and exposed themselves to Virton’s responses which offered big opportunities to V. Guillaume and especially Arib and Ntenda, but Cremers pulled out all the stops.
Not realistic enough on these occasions, the Virtonais were going to bite their fingers when El Omari, too alone, took a cross from Walbrecq closely to equalize. A goal made by two of the Tubize jokers in a final that was tumultuous to say the least, marked by the referee’s injury, another red card (Dembélé who allegedly spat in the direction of the opposing staff), a few scuffles in the process, a save from Bizimana in front of El Omari and a powerful volley from the returning Mballa flush with the crossbar.
In short, we will not be bored for a second in this event full of twists and turns, the big winner of which is ultimately Mons which won well ahead of Namur (4-0) and takes the sole lead in the ranking.
