Vietnam Paralympics: Gold Medal Updates in Athletics

The athletes of the Vietnam Paralympic team strive with great determination to achieve the best possible results for the delegation.

At the end of the afternoon, the athletics world once again brought good news for Vietnamese disability sports, when athlete Nguyen Thi Hai delivered an excellent performance and won the gold medal in the discus throw in the F57 category. Previously, the 40-year-old athlete had also won the gold medal in the javelin throw, confirming her impressive form and strong competitive spirit during these Games.

Athlete Vo Thanh Tung won the silver medal in the 50 meter freestyle.

Athlete Le Thi Dung won the bronze medal in the 50 meter butterfly.

In archery, athletes Nguyen Thi Hien and Bien Thi Chung excelled and reached the final of the 70 meter 3-string bow event. Although they briefly held a 4-5 point lead over their Thai opponents, their composure on the final shot saw the Vietnamese duo reach 141 points, just one point behind the gold medalists. Nevertheless, this is a very encouraging achievement, making it the first time that Vietnamese archers with disabilities have participated in the ASEAN Para Games.

After winning seven gold medals in the standard chess tournament, the Vietnamese players will take part in the rapid chess tournament tonight, an event expected to bring even more medals to the delegation. According to the schedule, the chess medal ceremony will take place tomorrow (January 25).
